All I Ask is a Tall Ship, and a Star to Sail Her By
September 12, 2003, 11:34 p.m. Nothing turgid, my apologies. Went to uni, rewarded myself for the many hours of study I was about to do with some lunch, bought myself a floppy disk because I’d forgotten to bring one from home (it’s pink!), and then locked myself in the Computer Access Room in the bowels of Fisher (the library). The CD tray in my computer was either possessed or suffered from epilepsy. It just kept opening and shutting of its own accord. Sometimes it would come out all the way, other times it would peep out a little, only to dart back in again. It would start abruptly, go on without rhyme or reason, and then just as abruptly stop. I think its fits were more frequent when I wasn’t typing up my notes, but talking to people. Unfortunately, sometimes it mistook my lack of keyboard presence for such socially-minded activity, when in fact I was reviewing and highlighting my many photocopied pages : ) After that, Eledhwen and I made our way to the George St Cinemas, where we met a friend of hers, and Elf-boy (!). I was shocked that he turned up. I mean, I know I invited him along, but I didn’t expect him to actually come. Pirates of the Caribbean was smashing, as ever, Orlando Bloom just as gorgeous as I remember and Johnny Depp . . . well, what can you say? He’s Captain Jack Sparrow, savvy? Ooh, my mother of a bruise has a sister bruise on my left knee. Fantastique!
