I'm Gonna Nail Yo Ass!

Seeing as though I’d just bought new lipstick the other day, I thought it’d be fun to have somewhere to wear it, so I told Ellie on Thursday night we had to go see a movie. We hit upon Intolerable Cruelty and arranged a time and all was set. She brought along a guy friend of hers, I found a girl on the bus and convinced her to come with us, spur-of-the-moment like (I did know her beforehand, though).

Intolerable Cruelty was a funny movie, fantastically hilarious at one point. It’s a black comedy, very much so, and it’s got great lines and nicely turned characters, but . . . it has no heart. This doesn’t have to be a problem, but this film asks us to believe in some wonderous transformations by love, in characters that have nothing to do with love. Catherine Zeta-Jones’ character wants independence; George Clooney’s character wants a challenge. I don’t think they really find what they’re looking for in love, or in each other. I just don’t buy it. But despite this, it is a good film, and I do recommend it.

After we’d walked the girl from the bus to the train station, we went to Chinatown for dinner, and I bought the guy Ellie brought along dinner. Perhaps he should have a name . . . Goat-boy, because he has a horrible, scrawny little goatee.

He’s not a bad guy, but he’s a bit of a doofus. And he wears a trenchcoat, and all-black clothing, and has long hair. It’s such a cliché . . . *sighs piteously* I was a little merciless towards him, but then, he hated the movie, so he deserved it a little.

Ooh! There was a guy in the line next to us at the cinemas who was flirting with us. At least, that’s what I say, and Eledhwen hasn’t exactly denied it. Oh well, it makes me feel sexy : )
