We Got Him
December 15, 2003, 12:12 a.m. So, they’ve caught Saddam Hussein. The TV stations here are gleefully playing live feed from CNN. I think they’re just ecstatic to have some sort of world-changing news to pull in viewers. A feeling of recording history, watching history. I’d like to see what kind of history is being made here. How will this change things? Will it make America pull out of Iraq sooner? Will it speed up democracy and peace in Iraq? Will Iraq be able to govern itself at the end of this, peacefully and in freedom? I hope so. The Iraqis deserve to see some peace. But, Jesus Bloody Christ, stop saying “God bless America,” you wankers. This isn’t about you. This is about the Iraqis. This is about them. Maybe, just maybe, it’s about weapons of mass destruction, and terrorism, but that’s a world issue, not a fucking American one. You’re not the bloody centre of the world. Sorry, but it shits me. Squidgey had a picnic today, and I offloaded a lot of Chrissie presents onto unsuspecting victims : ) In return, I received a calligraphy set from Budgie, and a silver bracelet chain with my name engraved on it. You know the type of thing. I love it: I love delicate chains around my wrists, which I think are particularly attractive and thin. But that’s just my own personal prejudice. It’s a lovely present: I’ll never forget my name now : ) Tomorrow, Christmas shopping for my mother and sister, and posting a package to Sif. It’s late, I should go to bed.
