Not Falling, But Collapsing at his Feet

Oh I love Sydney weather. I love its blazing summeryness, its light and warmth and sunshine. I love the way it boils all morning, until in the late afternoon, when it seems you simply can’t take any more, the clouds roll in and the thunder rumbles, and you can feel the bubble about to burst. The light turns grey and the cloud bellies tinged with green obscure the sun. The atmosphere is thick with tension, and the air is so wet you could drink it, until suddenly - downpour. The raindrops are fat and heavy and driving, and mercifully cool and wet. And you just want to run out in the rain and get soaked through (but you’re in your uniform with two hours left on your shift). But just as suddenly as it started, the rainfall stops, and you’re left with wet cement and the black of night. The city lights are reflected on the roads and in the puddles, and Sydney seems just that little bit magical.

I walked to uni today, it did take me an hour. So now I know I can do it, hopefully I’ll do it more often. Only problem was that my sister nicked off with my discman, and so I had no music while I was walking, just my own thoughts. And you know that’s never a good thing.

Spent $110 on three textbooks today – one was this slip of a book, that looks really dry, and it cost $47! Forty freaking seven dollars! Man, the amount of money I have to spend on my freaking education . . .

Also, worrying news. I was listening to Triple J (radio station) today, and they were interviewing Ian McKellen. He mentioned he was going to a day night cricket match next week, on Tuesday he thought, which is bad news – because that’s the night I’m supposed to go see Dance of Death. And I don’t want to pay $60 for an understudy. I’m a poor starving student!

Why can’t he go on Monday? They have Mondays off for rice cakes!

I drew up a map of Aistrigh today. Perhaps I’ll post it later, but at the moment we’ve gone over our download limit and have been put back on something like 28.8kbps. Growl.

Really, I’m in a better mood than this sounds.
