I Like the Way You Move
April 02, 2004, 4:55 p.m. Jeez, I’ve gone out every night since Monday. On Tuesday I went to the Opera House, to hear the Cologne Philharmonic Orchestra play Vivaldi’s Four Seasons (r0X0red my s0x0rs, dude – Spring is classic, Summer makes me drowsy, Autumn makes me wanna dance, but Winter will always be my ain true love) – plus some Mozart and Tchaikovsky thrown in for good measure; on Wednesday it was SUMS ahoy (I played pool and sunk three balls – two in a really flukey single shot!); and last night I went out to see a performance at the Cellar Theatre called Old Timey Chitlin, which really r0X0red my s0X0rs. It was a whole lot of very physical sketches, done with masks. Lots of funny ones, but a couple of arty/dramatic ones. At one point, in a sketch called Tulip (though it should have been called Gerbera), I wanted to call out to the character, and tell him not to do what he was doing (on a side note, he had really nice hands). That’s usually an indication to me that I enjoyed it : ) There were some weak points – for example, in one piece there was some slow-mo that got a bit sloppy – but it was really well done, and the move from comedy to drama was well handled throughout. Of all the sketches, though, the one called Backwards Man was my favourite. And tonight I am going out with the Stray Texan to see a movie (or I might hijack that plan and drag her to the theatre to see the play again – it’s on a 8pm at the Cellar Theatre [that’s at Sinny Yooni, under the Holme Building] if anyone reading this wants to go, and it’s on tonight and tomorrow. Tickets are sold at the door, and $2 for SUDS members, $3 for students and $5 for everyone else. If you can, go see it, it’s got the Liadlaith Stamp of Approval). Last night, I saw two friends of mine at the performance, who I don’t see that often. One of them was in my Arthurian Lit tute in first semester last year, and I think she’s great; the other one I’m having mixed feelings towards at the moment. Do I come across as a ‘conservative elitist bitch’ to you guys? Cause that’s what this second girl has called me. Not to my face, but to someone whom she knew was my friend. Conservative – well, I could see that, if she were a socialist, communist or anarchist. Elitist – yeah, I guess it’s a fine line between ‘taste and discrimination’ and ‘snobbery’. But bitch – now come on, that’s just taking things a bit too far. Oh well, I guess you can’t please everyone. Anyway, I gotta send out those emails about The Eldritch City to everyone who said they wanted the second chapter. So I better go do that. You all have a fun weekend.
