08:22 AEST Thu Oct 28 2004

A woman died after she was hit by a car as she crossed a busy main road in the eastern Sydney suburb of Kensington.

Police named the woman as Andrea Campagna, 20, of Dulwich Hill.

Ms Campagna was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital with critical head and chest injuries after she was hit on Anzac Parade, Kensington on Saturday night.

She died on Wednesday, police said.

The 25-year-old male driver of the car was interviewed by police but no charges have been laid.

I worked with Drea. She reminded me of my sister. She was shorter than me and she wore socks on her arms. Her hair was never tidy and she pulled the best faces. She wasn't suited to customer service at all, and apparently her binding jobs were always off. She was going to go America at the end of the year.

Now she's gone. And she's nowhere. She just doesn't exist anymore, except in memories.
